LES BARIOLES La Pigné 2024 VdF (Auvergne) 75cl Red

€2145 EUR

Grape varieties: 80% Gamay (Auvergne) and 20% Muscat Chardonnay (estate)

Vinification & ageing: Gamay fermented via carbonic maceration; Muscat Chardonnay pressed directly. Aged for 7 months in sandstone amphorae.

Tasting notes: A blouge (blush-red) with a pastry-like nose, crunchy and juicy, built around red berries, blood orange, and gentle spices. The tannins are barely there — light (11.5%), fluid, yet persistent with lovely tension. Oh, this is good!

Domaine Les Terres Bariolées was founded in 2022 by Edoardo Veltroni and Claire Freist, who met while working in Burgundy’s most prestigious appellations.

The estate covers 5 hectares, with all vineyards surrounding the small village of Chalus, at 600 metres above sea level. Chalus is located south of Issoire, near Boudes. The vineyard is planted with Chardonnay, Muscaté Chardonnay, Gamay, and Pinot Noir, with additional plantings of Syrah and Aligoté underway.

The vines are farmed organically, drawing inspiration from biodynamic principles. In the cellar, vinifications are carried out without additives, and the wines are most often bottled without added sulphur.
