HENRI RICHARD Grand Cru Mazoyères Chambertin 2021 75cl Red
Grape variety: Pinot Noir
Terroir: From a prestigious climat along the Route des Grands Crus, between Gevrey-Chambertin and Morey-St-Denis. Old vines (30 to 60 years) on clay-limestone soils with gravel and stones.
Vinification/Ageing: Aged 18 months in 220L barrels.
Tasting note: Intense red fruit aromas with hints of liquorice. Well-balanced with dense yet smooth tannins. A wine for discerning enthusiasts.
It all began with Jean Richard, the first owner in 1938, who purchased the estate’s first parcels, including those in Mazoyères-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin. His son Henri Richard, the namesake of the domaine, was already a trained oenologist at the time. Today, the wine estate is run by his grandchildren, Richard and Sarah, along with her husband Guillaume. They initiated the organic conversion in 2001, followed by biodynamic practices, earning Demeter certification in 2018. Their philosophy is to encourage natural processes that lead to living soils and healthy vines in a preserved environment. In the cellar, the approach is as traditional and natural as possible, simply a gentle passage from grape to bottle.
