Grape variety: 100% Chenin, from vines averaging 45 years old, planted over 10 hectares.
Tasting notes: Floral and intense, with aromas of white flowers and yellow fruits evolving into complex notes of acacia and candied fruit. A sleek style, marked by tension and noble restraint. Vibrant minerality and excellent ageing potential.
Aged for 18 months in barrels and large oak casks.
🍷 Serving temperature: 12°C
The Domaine aux Moines is located in France, in the charming village of Savennières in the Loire Valley, just south of Angers, perched atop the prestigious Roche aux Moines hillside, on the right bank of the Loire River.
The entire vineyard surrounds the house. Part of the vines are located within the walled park itself, nestled among trees and fruit plants, making agroforestry a central element of the estate. The 12 hectares benefit from a unique microclimate and ideal south/south-west exposure, offering optimal conditions for the development of Chenin, the sole grape variety behind the wines of the Savennières Roche aux Moines appellation.
The soils are composed of purple, green-grey siliceous schists and rhyolite.
The vines are grown organically, with biodynamic practices.
All decisions are made thoughtfully, based on close observation and reflection, with full respect for the environment and biodiversity. Nothing is done systematically.
