Grande Chartreuse Herbal Elixir:

In 1605, the Duke of Estrées entrusted the Carthusian monks with a manuscript containing a mysterious recipe made from 130 plants that could create an "Elixir of Long Life". For more than a century and a half, the Carthusian monks developed this recipe, which, thanks in particular to Brother Jérôme Maubec, resulted in a definitive product established in 1764 called "Grande Chartreuse Herbal Elixir". It was quickly distributed as a healthcare product to local populations, especially during the cholera crisis of 1832. Brother Charles was the first to market it in local markets, descending from the monastery on a donkey's back. Since 1764, the Elixir's recipe has remained unchanged.

It is a very effective cordial, digestive, and tonic:
- Neat in a teaspoon
- In herbal tea or as a grog with honey and lemon
- A few drops on a sugar cube, on a meringue
- In a cup of water for fatigue, discomfort, or indisposition
- A few drops in a cocktail to add an herbaceous note
