The story, as told by Julien Baudouin
It all began with the vineyard of my maternal grandfather in Le Bourdet, in the south of Deux-Sèvres.
Every year, the harvest was an unmissable ritual at the start of the school year throughout my childhood.
These few dozen ares of hybrid vines filled my grandfather’s fibreglass tanks each year for his own consumption, along with a few demijohns for the traditional Pineau.
The wine itself had few takers, the Pineau was another story altogether.
After starting my career in communication and marketing, I returned to study and trained as a winemaker for four years with Christophe Pueyo in Libourne.
In July 2023, I founded Chai Côtier, near Bayonne, driven by the desire to craft fun, vibrant wines from organically grown grapes, harvested from winemakers across South-West France.
