Grape varieties: Gamay d'Auvergne on basaltic soils

Vinification and aging: Gamay with carbonic maceration. Aged 7 months in sandstone amphorae and 500L barrels.

Tasting notes: A crisp and juicy red wine built around red fruits, blood orange and sweet spices, with evanescent tannins. Light (12.5%), fluid but persistent on the tension! Oh, how good it is!

Les Bariolés is the negociant business of Edoardo Veltroni and Claire Freist from Domaine des Terres Bariolées. In view of difficult vintages, Claire and Edoardo decided to launch their negociant business. The guiding principle? Well-sourced organic or biodynamic grapes, always with a portion of Muscat Chardonnay from their own estate, for joyful, unadulterated wines that offer undisguised pleasure.

The estate Les Terres Bariolées was created in 2022 by Edoardo Veltroni and Claire Freist. They met when they were both working in the prestigious appellations of Burgundy.

The estate has 5 hectares of vines. All the plots are spread around the small village of Chalus, at an altitude of 600 meters. Chalus is located south of Issoire, near Boudes. The grape varieties consist of Chardonnay, Muscat Chardonnay, Gamay and Pinot Noir. Plantings of Syrah and Aligoté are underway or planned, among others.

The vines are managed organically, while also drawing inspiration from biodynamic practices. In the cellar, vinification is carried out without inputs and the wines are most often bottled without added sulfur.
