C&F BEJON Pain Perdu 2023 VdFrance Loire 75cl Red
Grape variety: 100% Cabernet Franc
Terroir: From a 1.5 ha plot in Beaumont-en-Véron, with limestone soils at the base of the parcel and windblown sands at the top. Vines are 40 years old.
Vinification & Ageing: Whole-bunch gentle maceration for 3 weeks. Fermentation and ageing in a mix of vessels: tank, barrels, and stoneware jars.
No added sulphites.
Tasting note: Fruity and elegant, offering immediate pleasure but also with ageing potential; a few years in a cool cellar (max 10–12°C) will reveal greater complexity.
🍷 Serving temperature: 16°C. Decanting recommended at least one hour before serving.
Near Chinon, Claire and Florent Bejon farm 5.2 hectares (4.6ha Cabernet Franc, 0.6ha Chenin). The vineyard is lovingly tended, and the cellar is as natural as possible – no additives, not even sulphites when the vintage allows.
