BENASTRA Gneiss 2024 IGP Côtes Catalanes 75cl White
Grape Varieties: Macabeu, Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris.
Winemaking/Ageing: Whole-bunch pressing, followed by 8 months of ageing on the lees in 600-litre demi-muids (large oak barrels) previously used for two wines.
Terroir: Schist soils at 250 metres altitude and granite soils at 500 metres.
Tasting Notes: An inviting nose of citrus fruits and fresh almonds. The palate is smooth and supple without being overly rich, with minerality, delicate bitters and a subtle saline touch bringing depth and length to the finish.
🍷 Serving Temperature: 12°C
Benastra was born from the meeting of three friends with a shared ambition to make wine and winemaker Joseph Paillé. Together, they discovered old vines in the Agly Valley, near Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet.
The estate was farmed organically from the outset, with vineyards planted on schist soils at 250 metres altitude and granite soils at 500 metres.
Joseph constantly strives for elegance and freshness while embracing the warmth of the Mediterranean sunshine that gives the wines of this region their distinctive character. The result is a collection of beautifully balanced, authentic wines with remarkable depth.
