DOMAINE DU GRINGET Ayze La Bergerie 2022 Savoie 75cl White

€4474 EUR

Grape variety: 100% Gringet, old vines planted in the 1970s-1980s

Terroir: The estate’s only blended cuvée, produced from vines planted across different lieux-dits, Le Pré Milleret and Chez Reydet, featuring a range of substrates: yellow marls, white marls and limestone scree.

Vinification: Gentle pressing over seven hours, fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Ageing on fine lees for 9 months, with two-thirds in concrete eggs and one-third in stainless-steel tanks. Bottled without fining or filtration, followed by 10 months of bottle ageing. Light sulphur addition (total sulphur = 12 mg/L).

🍷 Serving temperature: 11-12°C

In the Arve Valley, within the Ayse vineyard, lies the Gringet estate. Following the passing of Dominique Belluard in 2021, the domaine was taken over by Vincent Ruiz, a young and highly talented winemaker who has notably worked with Franck Balthazar in Cornas. The estate is now named after the grape variety so dear to Dominique Belluard—an endemic Alpine grape to which he gave international recognition. Let’s not be chauvinistic and say it plainly: the wines of Domaine Gringet are unquestionably great mountain wines.
