ANXO Luis A Torna dos Pasas 2019 Ribeiro Spain 75cl Red
Grape varieties: Brancellao, Ferrol, Caiño Longo and Caiño Redondo
🍷 Serving temperature 16-17°
Since 1988, almost as a solitary pioneer, Luis Anxo has been dedicated to recovering the traditional grape varieties of Ribeiro, and more specifically those of the Arnoia valley, his place of origin and heart. He owns 3.7 hectares spread over more than 80 plots. These are small hillside plots, almost inhospitable, where old stone walls can be found. He also owns 1.3 hectares in the Ribadavia valley, where he produces the estate's unique single-vineyard wine "A Teixa". The wines from this estate have an astonishing aging potential, both white and red.
His philosophy is simple: endemic grape varieties, manual viticulture practices as close as possible to the environment, and low yields. For Luis Anxo, the wines of Arnoia are those that express the most minerality in his appellation and can therefore be a bit closed in their youth. Far from exuberance and flattery, his wines reveal themselves on the palate through textures and sensations.
These wines are among our cellar's favorites! They are of an incredible finesse and delicacy! They somewhat resemble the style of Jura wines, very far from preconceived ideas about Spanish wines!
