Since 1988, as a virtually solitary pioneer, Luis Anxo has been dedicated to recovering the traditional grape varieties of Ribeiro, and more specifically those of the Arnoia Valley, his origin and heartland. He owns 3.7 hectares spread over more than 80 parcels. These are small hillside parcels, almost inhospitable, where ancient stone walls can be seen. He also owns 1.3 hectares in the Ribadavia Valley, where he produces the estate's single-parcel wine "A Teixa." The wines from this estate have astonishing aging potential, both white and red.
His working philosophy is simple: endemic grape varieties, manual viticulture practices as close to the environment as possible, and small yields. For Luis Anxo, the wines of Arnoia are those that express the most minerality in his appellation and can therefore be a bit closed in their youth. Far from exuberance and flattery, his wines will reveal themselves on the palate through textures and sensations.
These wines are among our Cellar's favorites! They are incredibly refined and delicate! They somewhat resemble the style of Jura wines, a far cry from preconceived notions about Spanish wines!
