MURADELLA Gorvia 2018 Monterrei Spain 75cl White
Grape variety:100% Doña Blanca
The nose evokes aromas of honey, ripe fruit, and wild herbs. On the palate, the wine is dry but seduces with its smoothness, balance, and salinity on the finish. A wine that will reveal itself with a few more years in the cellar.
🍷 Serving temperature 12-13°C
The story of Quinta da Muradella is one of betting again on the rural environment and on the old vines that had been abandoned due to their low yield. It is a work that must be guided by a strong vocational will. Jose Luis Mateo is the man behind the project. Its foundations are rooted in two vineyards that his father, a stonemason by profession but a farmer at heart, worked for private consumption and, later, for consumption in the family bar. We are located in the Monterrei region, on the border with Portugal and with a more continental than Atlantic climate, with hot summers and icy winters.
José Luis works organically in an area where many grafted rootstocks of Garnacha Tintorera and Mencía have been replanted. However, he has always opted for genetic diversity and tends to produce with a multitude of wine varieties. Some have even been planted by himself with mass selections. Among them: Bastardo (Merenzao), Mencía, Garnacha Tintorera, Caiño Tinto, Albarello (Brancellao), Arauxa (Tempranillo), Sousón or Zamarrica.
These wines are among our Cellar's favorites! They are incredibly delicate and refined! They have a style reminiscent of Jura wines, very far from preconceived notions about Spanish wines!
