DOMAINE DES 8 LUNES Lune des Louves 2024 Vin de France 75cl Red
Grape variety: 100% Piquepoul Noir
Terroir: Clay-limestone
Vineyard area: The Piquepoul Noir is co-planted with other “forgotten” grape varieties (used in the Nouvelle Lune cuvée), with barely 4 rows representing just 0.16 hectares. This explains the very limited production of this cuvée (between 400 and 800 bottles per year). The soil is clay-limestone with the presence of schist.
The vines are cultivated according to biodynamic principles, following the lunar calendar, using plant-based preparations and horn silica.
Winemaking: Hand-harvested grapes. 100% destemmed harvest with a short maceration (about 1 week), then aged in tank for 6 months.
Tasting notes: Bursting with black fruit and violet aromas, showing a discreet elegance with fine, graphite-like tannins; this is a beautiful expression of a rare yet native Languedoc grape variety.
🍷 Serving temperature: 16°C - decant for 1 hour before serving
Blanville is a family-run wine estate located in Saint-Pargoire, near Montpellier in the Hérault (34). Founded in 1997 by Bernard and Béatrice Nivollet, it is now being handed over to their daughters and the Blanville team.
The Domaine des 8 Lunes is the result of the second generation’s new project: to revive forgotten grape varieties of the Languedoc and share them. The vineyard is farmed according to biodynamic principles, respecting the lunar calendar, which includes 8 different phases that inspired the estate’s name.
