Lionel BRENIER Corbel 2021 Chatus Vin de France (Drôme Nord) 75cl Red
Grape variety: 100% Chatus; a rare grape variety today that was widely cultivated before the phylloxera crisis in Ardèche, northern Drôme, and the Hermitage vineyards. It is also known locally as “Corbel” in northern Drôme.
Terroir: Sandy-silty soil with rolled pebbles in Épinouze.
Winemaking / Aging: Partial destemming, concrete vat maceration lasting 15 to 20 days, pressing with a traditional old vertical screw press with a wooden cage, as in the past; aged for 12 months in old barrels.
Tasting notes: A beautiful expression of this Ardèche grape variety. A swirl of pepper brings a distinctive character to the wine, with pronounced yet elegant tannins.
🍷 Serving temperature: 16°C, with light decanting for about 30 minutes
The Domaine Lionel Brenier is located in Épinouze in the Drôme des Collines, in the northern part of the department. The climate is similar to that of Crozes-Hermitage: temperate and well-ventilated. The northern wind helps keep the vines healthy. Winters are cold, while summers can be very hot. The estate covers a total of 4.08 hectares across different plots.
