Domaine Sainte Eulalie, La Londe, Côtes de Provence
Returning from our short vacation, we visited this "new" winemaker, located next to Hyères in lush vegetation at the foot of the Massif des Maures. New because he has just bottled his first vintages... "L'Estourbille" 2012, a red wine (syrah, cinsault, carignan) overflowing with charm, smooth and floral, then "La Serpentine" 2013, a rosé (cinsault, grenache, syrah, tibouren) for gourmets... made for the table and bold pairings, with plenty of spices and red fruits... truly great! Finally, a Provence rosé that doesn't taste like water... so much for the trend!
Jean-Louis de David-Beauregard also showed us, in addition to his vines, impressive olive trees that are over a thousand years old... splendid!
Domaine Les Luquettes, Bandol
After the visit with Jean-Louis, we were warmly welcomed by Elisabeth Lafourcade under the magnificent trees (also... how coincidental...!) of their family estate "Les Luquettes" in La Cadière d'Azur, Bandol appellation. Before tasting, we all, children and adults, enjoyed homemade sorbets made from garden fruits - peaches and strawberries...! Then the wines, of course, we still had to work: Rosé 2013 (Mourvèdre, cinsault) a bomb, an explosion of fruit, very successful, and the red 2012 (Mourvèdre, grenache) powerful, generous, black fruits, licorice with a fresh balsamic touch, truly promising!
