A wonderful unexpected meeting, completely by chance, with Cyril Zangs, one of our Norman cider producers, under a railway arch in London in the Bermondsey district, where "artisan" "ales" breweries have been exploding in recent years! And what's more, our colours match! And yes, we're in London to discover all this... but the Cellar remains open where you'll find Florent to welcome and advise you every day during regular opening hours!

In this Bermondsey district, one of the least touristy, you might say, because once you're out of the "Tube", you really ask yourself why you're there... not many people, no trendy or chic shops... but five minutes' walk under the railway arches among the trendiest and best breweries in England. We already offer "The Kernel", a beer named "Best Brewery 2014" (by the Ratebeer website) and which has been around for 5 years. We were welcomed by Evin, one of the founders.
Â
After a great tour of the brewery, Evin let us taste what we can't offer in Pau because the production is not sufficient.

A "London Sour Cherry" and "London Sour Raspberry" which are similar to the style of beers made in Brussels, Gueuzes or Lambics. Crunchy fruit and biting acidity, a low alcohol content (3.2%) which makes them exceptional thirst-quenching beers!
Â
Â
"The Kernel" is the largest of these Bermondsey breweries, but its production remains modest... 3000 litres per brew. It's already a good thing that

we can offer the range we have for sale! To discover the Saison beers (aged in Pinot Noir barrels from Burgundy), the Sour beers or Stouts in Whisky barrels, you have to come to London! On Saturdays, the breweries open to the public.... From 10:00 to 14:00 for some. Others from 11:00 to 16:00. Around there are other excellent wholesalers (English cheeses or from Lescun....meats, fruits, bakeries, wines...) who also open their doors, so you can choose something to feast on and consume on site accompanied by an IPA or London Stout "from the tap"!

If "The Kernel" brews 3000 litres at a time, another well-known brewery that started only two years ago with "The Kernel"'s equipment is "Partizan". Andy Smith, a passionate man from Yorkshire and founder of "Partizan" (they love good beer in Yorkshire!) brews only 600 litres at a time, beers with personality, freshness for PA or IPA (thyme, lemon and lemongrass) or for those who like perfectly roasted coffee or a good square of dark chocolate, they will find their happiness with his Porter or his wonderful Stout! Available soon at the Cave du Palais? We certainly hope so!

What is certain is that the phenomenon is exploding in London! And we have only scratched the surface, still so much to discover since in less than 5 years from 5 breweries at the start, there are 80 today... wow!
And we haven't even talked about "craft" spirits in London yet... so article coming soon!
