In Bas-Rhin, in Heiligenstein, Domaine Heywang is a proud standard-bearer of Klevener, also known as Savagnin Rose. This forgotten grape variety, also called Traminer, nearly disappeared, overshadowed by its cousin Gewurztraminer. The winegrowers of this village, recognising its legitimacy and quality, fought to save it. As a result, it now has its own Complementary Geographical Denomination under the Alsace-Klevener d’Heiligenstein appellation. Domaine Heywang farms its 7 hectares of vineyards organically.
