Grape varieties: 60% Merlot & Abouriou for the rest; 15-year-old vines, North-West exposure.
Vinification & ageing: Hand-harvested and naturally vinified: full destemming, gentle punch-downs and two light pump-overs per day during 10 days of maceration. Gentle pressing, one year of ageing in barrels previously used for several wines, blending of the barrels, then three months in vat. Unfined, unfiltered, with very little added sulphites.
Tasting notes: Aromas of raspberry and dark fruits, with a slight herbal touch… 2023 is a sunny vintage, rich, round and indulgent, with greater substance, an easy-drinking juice and ripe tannins. Best decanted before serving!
🍷 Serving temperature: 15–16°C
Antoine Delaunay, a young 36-year-old winemaker, returned to the family estate in 2015 after completing his studies. Organic conversion had already begun in 2011 under the guidance of his father Philippe. They soon stopped selling grapes to négociants and gathered the parcels together to create Delaunay Vignerons. Today, the 28 hectares are carefully tended, the grapes are vinified naturally, and extended ageing on the lees is applied to several cuvées. A fine piece of work!
