Since 1988, almost alone as a pioneer, Luis Anxo has dedicated himself to recovering the traditional grape varieties of Ribeiro, and more specifically those of the Arnoia valley, his place of origin and emotional attachment. He owns 3.7 hectares spread across more than 80 plots. These are small hillside plots, almost inhospitable, where ancient stone walls can be seen. He also owns 1.3 hectares in the Ribadavia valley, where he produces the estate's unique single-vineyard wine, "A Teixa." The wines from this estate have astonishing aging potential, both white and red.
His working philosophy is simple: endemic grape varieties, manual viticulture practices as close as possible to the environment, and low yields. For Luis Anxo, the wines of Arnoia are those that express the most minerality in his appellation and can therefore be a little closed in their youth. Far from exuberance and flattery, his wines reveal themselves on the palate through textures and sensations.
These wines are among our Cellar's favorites! They are incredibly fine and delicate! They have a style reminiscent of Jura wines, very far from preconceived notions about Spanish wines!
