CHANDON DE B Corton Les Maréchaudes Grand Cru 2020 75cl Red

€28161 EUR

Grape variety : Pinot Noir

Terroir : 0.40 ha plot on the lower mid-slope, below Corton "Bressandes" and next to Corton "Vergennes", it is a shallow limestone terroir facing due east, yielding early maturities.

Domaine Chandon de Briailles, located in the Côte de Beaune, has belonged to the same Chandon family since 1834! Today, it is Claude and François, heirs of their Grandmother Countess Chandon, who work with precision to honor their beautiful vineyard heritage.

The estate spans 13.7 hectares, equally divided between the three communes of Savigny-Lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses, and Aloxe-Corton. Thirty small plots are cultivated.

Claude and François received a strong legacy from their mother at the estate. These very complementary siblings each gained solid experience before taking over the estate in the 90s for Claude, then 10 years later for François. Claude notably created a laboratory to ensure precise monitoring of the wines; François, with his past life as a wine merchant, became highly sensitive to tasting wines from biodynamic farming practices. It was thus natural for him to initiate the conversion of his vineyard to biodynamics.

Organic farming has held an important place on the estate since the 1980s. Nadine de Nicolay realized very early on the misguidedness of the entire existing array of chemical treatments for vines. From then on, the estate resumed working the soil as an obvious choice. Five horses have been plowing since 2014.

The estate has been certified by the Demeter label since 2018. Due to the deep rooting of the plant it promotes and its completely natural aspect, biodynamics gives wines an inimitable mouthfeel and aromatic complexity. The wines are magnified and possess incomparable elegance and charm. This meticulous work precisely reveals the aromatic identity of each "climat".

In the cellar, all wines are aged in old barrels. The goal is not to heavily intervene in the winemaking and aging process but simply to guide nature. The wines each reflect the particularity of their "climat" and can be enjoyed at different stages of their life, for the wisest and most patient...
