DOMAINE CHAMONARD
Jean-Claude Chanudet, aka Le Chat, is one of the first generation of "natural" wine producers in Beaujolais. In 1989, he took over his father-in-law's vineyards with good peasant sense. An emblematic winemaker, he tends to 4 hectares of old vines in Morgon with a free and precise winemaking sensibility, long macerations, and aging in old barrels. The wines are remarkably fine, somewhat rich but always delicious, and have a very long aging potential. His daughter Jeanne, a veterinarian by training, is set to take over this beautiful estate.
