CHAI CÔTIER Sur les Flots 2024 VdF 75cl White
Grape varieties: A blend of 65% Gros Manseng (from Simon Ribert) and Colombard from the Gers (from Sébastien Fezas)
Unfiltered and unfined, aged 8 months in 500L barrels.
Tasting notes: A nose of fresh fruit, candied lemon and zest. The palate is linear, crisp, generous and fruit-forward, with a vibrant, mouthwatering bitterness on the finish. Hats off to the winemaker!
🍷 Serve at 10–11°C
As told by Julien Baudouin:
In the beginning, there was my maternal grandfather’s vineyard at Le Bourdet in the south of Deux-Sèvres. Every year, the grape harvest was an unmissable event throughout my childhood.
These few dozen ares of hybrid vines each year provided enough grapes to fill Pépé’s fiber tanks for his annual consumption, as well as enough for a few demijohn bottles for the traditional pineau.
As for wine, there were few contenders to claim its share, but for the pineau, however, it is another story!
After beginning my career in communication and marketing, I decided to back and learn the craft of winemaking for four years with Christophe Pueyo in Libourne. I founded Chai Côtier in July 2023 near Bayonne, driven by the desire to vinify fun and lively wines from organic grapes harvested by winemakers in the South-West.
