Grape variety: Chardonnay
Terroir: "Chemin de Reims" parcel, composed of red/orange Thanetian calcareous sands rich in iron salts, with deep chalk subsoil
Tasting notes: The palate is broad and structured, with the typical markers of the grape giving way to the character of the iron-rich soil. A sanguine texture, generous in the mid-palate, then taut on the finish; a true expression of its terroir.
Bottled: July 2020
Disgorged: May 2024
Dosage: Extra Brut – 4.15 g/L
Ageing: In oak barrels
The family’s winemaking heritage dates back to 1490 with Nicolas Taillet. Alexandre Chartogne, who trained under Anselme Selosse in Avize, carries on this traditional know-how; working his vines by hand and cultivating the soils with the help of his horses.
