Grape varieties: 70% Gros Manseng & Petit Manseng
Terroir: Grapes from the slopes of the Pyrenean foothills; villages of Cuqueron (south-facing exposure) and Lasseube (flysch and limestone soils).
Ageing: On fine lees in stainless steel and 70% in various wooden vessels.
Tasting notes: Very fruity with marked freshness, this is a classic dry Jurançon, perfect as an aperitif. It pairs beautifully with charcuterie and cured ham, as well as matured fresh goat’s cheese, seafood or fish rillettes.
🍷 Serving temperature: 10–12°C
Drawing on his experience abroad, Franck Lihour took over the five-generation family estate, Domaine Castéra, in 2014. The vines are tended with farmer’s wisdom, guided by observation and intuition. Vineyard care relies on natural treatments (copper, sulphur, essential oils…) while the soils are nourished with manure, crushed rock and a wide diversity of plants (cereals, legumes, crucifers). Harvesting is done by hand with successive selections; winemaking is deliberately simple and ageing gentle, in stainless steel or large vessels. The result is authentic wines that are at once fruity and profound, expressing all the minerality of Jurançon’s finest terroirs.
