GRANDE CHARTREUSE Elixir 1605 Liqueur 56° 70cl
The famous Chartreuse liqueurs need no introduction!
Elixir 1605 Liqueur: It was first created in 2005 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Duke of Estrées handing over the manuscript of the Elixir of Long Life to the Carthusian monks of Vauvert in Paris. This liqueur is inspired by the "Liqueur de Santé" or "Elixir de Table" developed at the beginning of the 19th century, which became Chartreuse Verte in 1840.
Composition: alcohol, sugar, water, plant substances (130 plants, flowers, barks, roots, and spices).
Alcohol content: 56% vol.
Production: Chartreuse Verte derives its unique character from its natural color, its potency, and its aromatic complexity, all stemming from 130 plants, flowers, barks, roots, and spices.
Its production requires several weeks of work and involves various stages:
- Milling prepared by the monks in the plant room at the Grande Chartreuse monastery.
- Distillation to obtain the aroma.
- Different types of cold maceration/infusion that extract the active principles from the plants. Distillation to obtain the aroma.
- Aging in oak casks before bottling.
