LES TERRES BARIOLES Les Sables de Grès Chardonnay Muscaté Macération 2024 VdF (Auvergne) 75cl White -
Grape variety: Chardonnay Muscaté
Terroir: Grey marl soils. Les Sables de Grès, an east-facing parcel at 550 metres altitude
Vinification & ageing: One month of skin maceration in clay jars, using whole bunches, followed by ageing in oak barrels
Tasting notes: Aromas of orange peel and bitter herbs, with a very subtle Muscat character. The palate is taut yet supple, becoming more suave and elongated with time. Very promising.
🍷 Serving temperature: 9-10 °C
The estate Les Terres Bariolées was founded in 2022 by Edoardo Veltroni and Claire Freist, who met while working in some of Burgundy’s most prestigious appellations.
The domaine farms 5 hectares of vineyards, all located around the village of Chalus, at around 600 metres altitude, south of Issoire near Boudes.
Plantings include Chardonnay, Chardonnay Muscaté, Gamay and Pinot Noir, with Syrah and Aligoté currently planted or planned.
The vines are cultivated organically, with inspiration drawn from biodynamic practices. In the cellar, vinifications are carried out without additives, and the wines are most often bottled without added sulphur.
