TINEDO Cala No1 2020 La Tierra de Castilla Espagne 75cl Red
Grape varieties: Tempranillo (75%), Syrah (20%), Cabernet Sauvignon
Terroir: Located between 400 and 500 metres above sea level. Reddish clay soils over metamorphic slate. The grapes come from their own vineyards as well as long-term purchase agreements with vineyards further east, including Santa Cruz, Las Ermitas and, above all, Larouco.
Vinification: Hand-harvested in mid-September. 3 days of cold maceration. Concrete tanks.
Ageing: Aged for two winters in concrete tanks.
Tasting: Powerful and beautifully structured, yet elegant, with good volume and intense notes of fresh fruit.
In SocuĆ©llamos, in the heart of La Mancha, the Ćlvarez-Arenas family has cultivated Finca Tinedo since 1846, with the estate now in the hands of the fifth generation. Across around fifty hectares of organically farmed vineyards, the estate champions a highly site-specific and distinctive vision of the region, far removed from the high-volume wines often associated with La Mancha. The grapes come exclusively from the estate and are handled with a focus on freshness and precision, notably through the use of unlined concrete tanks, which help preserve the fruit and the expression of the terroir. A restrained, sustainable approach, deeply rooted in the place.
