20: Palais Curieux Mai 2023

It's been a busy month to tantalize your taste buds... a grand Tour de France to get started! On the "winemaker's" Champagne side, of course: Ruppert-Leroy, Emilien Feneuil and Clément Perseval. Then Aurélien Revillot in Bourgueil, Peggy Buronfosse in the Jura, Domaines Goisot and Dauvissat in Burgundy, Agnès Levet in Côte Rôtie, Domaines Le Chapitre and Cantalauze in Gaillac... and to create your fine cuisine and incomparable sauces: Granhota vinegars from Languedoc.

For Champagne lovers and others too, by the way... because (a small anecdote) I'm very happy to have introduced some customers "who didn't like Champagne..." to the true face of this renowned but in fact little-known wine! When these customers come back with stars in their eyes to tell me that they loved such and such Champagne recommended by us, it's a great pleasure! So we received our allocation of Ruppert-Leroy from the Côte des Bar at Bénédicte Ruppert and Emmanuel Leroy (I sometimes dream of this Champagne! Really!) or Emilien Feneuil and Clément Perseval on the Montagne de Reims - the new generation! Beautiful arrivals with very limited quantities. Exceptional and lively Champagnes that will quickly make you forget the more "known" brands...

Now a zigzag across France, starting in the Jura at Peggy and Jean Pascal Buronfosse with several wonderful cuvées of dry whites and the intriguing red cuvée "Se Kwa Sa"? An original blend of classic Jura grape varieties (Poulsard, Trousseau, Pinot Noir) but also rarer ones such as Gamay Teinturier, Béclan, and Enfariné...
Then, let's follow the Loire towards Bourgueil to rediscover the beautiful wines of Aurélien Revillot: "Sur les Hauts", "Aubuis", or "Grand Mont", floral and elegant wines with tannins softened by long aging. Aurélien has incredible talent!
Let's go back north to Burgundy in St Bris le Vineux between Auxerre and Chablis, where we arrive at Jean-Hugues and Guilhem Goisot, one of the most renowned estates for its organic and biodynamic work, always careful to follow nature's rhythm. However, this year saw a very small delivery because the estate was cruelly affected by hail in 2021...!
Then the sparkling wines of the finest crystal from Vincent Dauvissat in Chablis, a magical winemaker who has enchanted us for decades, the children are there now and the magic continues, it's wonderful!!

We will then head south to the Northern Rhône Valley to Agnès Levet in Côte Rôtie and its dizzying slopes above the majestic river. The vines are planted on stakes, three per vine to allow the tendrils to climb towards the light. These are dark, black wines, with smoky and spicy notes, but made of velvet and silk in Agnès's hands! The great Syrahs are here!

Then due West, to arrive in the Tarn at Gaillac - the Tuscany of the Southwest! Two great estates to discover. Cantalauze and Le Chapitre, the wines are lively, vibrant, nature expresses itself fully, no excessive interventionism. Grape varieties like Loin d'Œil, Mauzac, Duras, Braucol... in white, red, and petnat! Hooray!

The "Granhota" vinegars are back! Made naturally with real ingredients inside!! ;) We will travel further... with Kâmpôt black or Nepal pepper, natural, Muscat or Fig balsamic vinegars from Roussillon, thyme or the amazing "Special Oysters" made with green Sichuan pepper... in a salad, sprayed on meat, deglazing a sauce... it's a condiment that adds the final touch and relief to your dishes.
