12: Palais Curieux Septembre 2022

Do you remember our favorite of last summer? Jon Larranaga has just delivered his latest 2021 vintage of his cuvée G.1200 on the DO Getariako Txakolina! Just before the harvest began, it was a pleasure to see him again! If you don't know him yet, his portrait can be (re)discovered here!

We are delighted to receive this sunny novelty, it is Alexandre Hote, who is settled between Tavel and Lirac, on 4.5 hectares. He settled in 2019 when he turned 40 and felt the urge to gain independence as a winemaker! Working on clay-limestone terraces covered with impressive rolled pebbles, Alexandre gives prominence to the terroir and grapes. He takes care of his environment by favoring manual work and natural treatments. The vinification process is, in the same vein, as natural as possible.

We have received the latest vintages from Pierre Ménard! A highly conscientious and incredibly friendly winemaker, all his cuvées are magnificently refined. Established in Faye d'Anjou, he always works his small vineyard with passion, asking a thousand questions and advancing very humbly. In the vineyard, he uses cover crops, minimal intervention, and plowing. And in his renovated farmhouse, he favors low-intervention vinification and long aging, just as he likes them...

New Champagne arrivals from Clément Perseval! In the heart of the Montagne de Reims Natural Park, he took over 2 hectares of family vines, signing them with his own name before taking full control. He works the vines in his own way, respecting biodiversity, and vinifies naturally. His work aims to express the full potential of his Chamery terroir. Also, some exciting new arrivals: 3 AOC Coteaux Champenois cuvées, which are still wines... without bubbles!!

And finally, a discovery, the Domaine le Petit Malo in Gard, in the lesser-known appellation of Duché D'Uzès! It's a small 6-hectare estate worked since 2009 by Olivier Valence using Organic Agriculture methods. Conscientious and a good-humored person, he strives to create quality, consensual, and accessible cuvées!

And how about treating yourself to this month's Palais Curieux to discover several estates? Jean Baptiste Semmartin with Mansengs&Compagnie, Clément Perseval, Jon Larranga and his Txakoli, Domaine Petit Malo, Alexandre Hote & le Clos Audhuy
