Regarding arrivals...
This month, let's start with our Basque neighbors, Domaine Bordatto in Irouléguy! Rather well-known (and sought after!), especially for their Txalaparta 2020 cider or apple wine (or sagarnoa here), their grape wines are lovely! Why not uncork an Erotasuna, a full and super fruity Marselan for an aperitif, or the Lurumea, a beautiful and deep Tannat of great finesse from ophiolite soil, to accompany a well-seasoned chicken basquaise?!
From the Southwest, we already told you in February about the newly arrived cuvées from Sébastien Fezas in the Gers (Domaine Jean Daugé) but we hadn't received his white yet... It's done! And it must be said that Partie Fine, a beautifully crafted cuvée, is already very popular! It's an Ugni Blanc and Colombard to taste urgently .
Ah, Provence, the sun... we want it! And Domaine des Luquettes in Bandol warms our hearts right on time with its delicious little cuvées (red and rosé in IGP Mont Caume). The dark and sapid Bandol red 2019 will need to rest a bit in the cellar or be decanted for the most impatient!
Return of the delicious juicy cuvées from Sébastien Benard in Isère! These are very nice gastronomic cuvées, including a curiosity based on Servanin, an indigenous and rather rare grape variety, producing a wine of profound intensity!
Outside France, let's take a little sunny trip to Sicily with the return of Valdibella! The small cuvées are generous and offer very, very good value for money! Valdibella is an agricultural cooperative in the heart of rural Sicily, focused on biodiversity and indigenous crops. With its own biodiversity charter, this group of farmers (not just winemakers... wheat, market gardeners, olives...) is convinced that organic farming is an urgent response for the future. Discover wines from typical Sicilian grape varieties and also a very green and flavorful olive oil from the "Cerasuola" variety!
Finally, let's stop over in Galicia, a region we love for its terroirs and the finesse of its wines! Luis Anxo is in the small Ribeiro appellation perched high up, near Rias Baixas and the Atlantic coast! A small estate of 3 hectares and a bit... spread over 80 micro-parcels... he works the endemic grape varieties simply and meticulously. The wines are among our Cellar's favorites! They are incredibly fine and delicate! They are somewhat reminiscent of Jura wines, very far from preconceived ideas about Spanish wines!
