Grape variety: 100% Aligoté
Old vines aged 30 to 45 years, planted on sandy, stony soils. Aged 12 months in barrel.
This parcel is located in the commune of Morey-Saint-Denis, at the end of the alluvial fan of the Combe Grisard. It benefits from a distinctive and atypical terroir for a regional appellation, thanks to its highly draining soil characteristics.
🍷 Serving temperature: 10°C
Ageing potential: around 5 years
It all began with Jean Richard, the first owner in 1938, who purchased the estate’s first parcels, including Mazoyères-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin. His son, Henri Richard, after whom the domaine is named, was already an oenologist at the time. Today, the estate is run by his grandson Richard, granddaughter Sarah, and son-in-law Guillaume, who initiated the conversion to organic farming in 2001 and later to biodynamics, with Demeter certification obtained in 2018.
The philosophy is to support all the natural processes that lead to living soils and healthy vines in a preserved environment. The cellar serves as a simple conduit from grape to bottle, with vinifications that are as traditional and natural as possible.
