ROLAND SCHMITT Pinot Noir 2023 Alsace 75cl Red
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Tasting notes: Bright, sparkling red colour. The nose is youthful and fresh, blending aromas of red fruits (raspberry, morello cherry), spices, and toasted bread. On the palate, the juicy red fruit notes shine through, with a supple tannic structure typical of Alsace Pinot Noir.
This Pinot Noir offers immediate pleasure, perfect for a festive evening with friends. It pairs wonderfully with Italian dishes or a classic tarte flambée.
Roland Schmitt was part of a post-war generation that believed deeply in the potential of the Alsatian vineyard to produce great wines. He was among the pioneers who helped establish the region's first Grands Crus. After his untimely passing in 1993, his spirited Mediterranean wife took the reins, breathing new life into the estate.
Today, their three children have joined the domaine, carrying on a philosophy rooted in vitality and respect for the land, with a long-term vision to protect both the terroirs and the wines they yield. The estate has been certified organic for over a decade, and sulphur use is kept to a minimum. The wines are honest, precise, and deeply expressive of their individual terroirs.
