Aurélien Suenen, a native Champenois, produces exceptional Champagnes on 3 hectares of beautiful plots: Oiry, Cramant and Chouilly (Chardonnay) as well as a small parcel (Meuniers) on ungrafted vines in the Vesle Valley.
As early as 2012, when he took over from his father, he invested in biology and biodynamics to allow the terroir to fully express itself in his wines. He stopped all synthetic treatments in the vineyard and aims to achieve a balance between all the living organisms that make up his vineyard. The same philosophy applies to vinification: indigenous yeasts, no fining or filtration... Although natural processes are the keywords, Aurélien's work remains precise and meticulous. His Champagne wines are chiseled, express the minerality of each parcel, and have a strong character.
Here at the shop, we also appreciate the great transparency of the information (good!) provided on the labels, map, terroir, technical information... A real plus for enthusiasts looking for small details about the winemaker's work!
