CHANDON DE B Corton Les Maréchaudes Grand Cru 2018 75cl Red

€19700 EUR

Grape Variety : Pinot Noir

Terroir : This is a 0.40 ha plot located on a mid-to-lower slope, below the Corton "Bressandes" and next to the Corton "Vergennes". It is a shallow limestone terroir, east-facing, which allows for early ripening.

Domaine Chandon de Briailles, located in the Côte de Beaune, has belonged to the same Chandon family since 1834! Today, Claude and François, heirs of their Grandmother Countess Chandon, work with precision to honor their beautiful heritage of vines.

The estate covers 13.7 hectares equally distributed among the three communes of Savigny-Lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses, and Aloxe-Corton. Thirty small plots are cultivated.

Claude and François received a strong legacy from their mother at the estate. Complementary, they each gained solid experience before taking over the estate in the 90s for Claude, then 10 years later for François. Claude notably created a laboratory to ensure precise monitoring of the wines; François, with his former life as a wine merchant, was highly sensitive to the tasting of wines from biodynamic farming practices. It was therefore natural for him to initiate the conversion of his vineyard to biodynamics.

Organic farming has held a significant place on the estate since the 1980s. Nadine de Nicolay realized very early on the fallacy of the entire existing array of chemical vine treatments. From then on, the estate resumed soil cultivation as a matter of course. Five horses have been used for plowing since 2014.

The estate has been certified by the Demeter label since 2018. Due to the deep root system it promotes and its completely natural aspect, biodynamics gives wines an inimitable mouthfeel and aromatic complexity. The wines are magnified and possess incomparable elegance and charm. This meticulous work accurately reveals the aromatic identity of each climate.

In the cellar, all wines are aged in old barrels. The goal is not to intervene heavily in the winemaking and aging process, but simply to guide nature. Each wine reflects the particularity of its climate and can be appreciated at different times in its life, for the wisest and most patient...
