Ćmilienās thoughts on the 2020 vintage:
āClearly structured for ageing. Donāt hesitate to use a decanterāor at least give it time. Itās neither especially sunny nor especially cool; Iād say it plays on both ātemperaturesā, something I feel as much in the textures as in the aromatic evolution. Often vertical (without being austere) on opening. I insist, as always, but with some vintages like this one more than others, you gain so much by letting it breathe.ā
Iāll leave you to enjoy the lyricism of Ćmilienās poetic text describing his approach:
āI am proud to be a winemaker.
To work with this vine that pierces through rock,
capable of creating its own soil within stone.
This powerful plant,
both highly resilient and yet extremely sensitive,
has always shared an intimate bond with people
wherever it has taken root.
I love the relationship
between its cultivation
and nature.
Deeply rooted, it twists and turns-
talkative, inquisitive, exploratory.
With its head in the stars,
the vine allows me to keep my feet on the ground.
To make the invisible perceptible.
