The story told by Julien Baudouin: In the beginning, there was my maternal grandfather's vineyard in Le Bourdet in the south of Deux-Sèvres. The harvest every year was an unmissable event at the start of the school year throughout my youth.
These few tens of acres of hybrid vines, which every year filled Grandad's fiber vats for his annual consumption and a few demijohns for the traditional pineau.
There were few candidates for the wine, but the pineau was another story.
After a career in communication and marketing, I went back to school to learn the trade of winemaker for 4 years with Christophe Pueyo in Libourne. I created Chai Côtier in July 2023 near Bayonne with the desire to make fun and lively wines from organic grapes harvested from winemakers in the Southwest.
