FOURSQUARE Touchstone 14YO 61% Mark XXII 70cl Barbados

Touchstone is a complex blend, 14 years old. Two double maturations have been blended. The first is a Foursquare 2008 vintage, 12 years old, aged in ex-bourbon casks, which then spent 2 additional years in old cognac (Camus) casks. The second is a rum that aged for 5 years in bourbon casks, then an additional 9 years in cognac casks. These two double maturations were then blended to create a final spirit with an alcohol content of 61%.

Fourth generation of the Seale family, owners of a distillery in Barbados since 1883. In 1992, Richard Seale joined the family business and purchased Doorlys and Old Brigand. In 1996, he founded the Foursquare distillery on the site of the old sugar refinery-distillery of the same name.

Foursquare produces molasses rums. Fermentation is carried out with South African yeasts. Distillation takes place using a triple Coffey column still and a pot still. The blending of these two distillations and their aging are key to the final result of the aged rums, a method unique to Barbados.

Foursquare rums are aged in bourbon casks and often undergo double maturation; Port, Sherry, Madeira casks... The "Exceptional Casks" series has been very successful with Détente, Redoutable, Dominus, Empery... But it is also Richard Seale's passion for authentic rums that has led him to collaborations with Luca Gargano of Velier; Plenipotenziario, Triptych, Destino...
