SODADE Sang Dragon 44.5% 50cl 2024 Cape Verde
This spirit is made from pure sugarcane juice and the sap of the Cape Verdean dragon tree. The dragon tree is a revered tree with reddish sap. An ancient technique involves incising the trunk of the dragon tree to harvest this sap.
Tasting Notes: A spirit with an aromatic blend of red fruits and spices, the palate is surprising and lively!
Traditional rums in Cape Verde are called "Grogue".
15% of the price goes to the producer, excluding alcohol duties and VAT.
Sodade is an extremely artisanal and authentic range! Created by Jonathan, a native of Martinique, he discovered Cape Verde in 2014, although a large part of his life had already been shaped by rums. In very rural villages, he discovered rums traditionally made by farmers, distilled for local consumption. He then convinced them to market them!
The sugarcane is harvested traditionally by hand. Only wild yeasts are used for fermentation. Distillation takes place on-site in a very traditional clay and stone still (it is even depicted on the bottle label!). A well-negotiated portion goes directly to the farmers.
