DORIAN DEJEAN Los Vinos y tu Padre 2024 VDF (Côtes Catalanes) 75cl Red
Grape variety: Carignan from century-old vines.
Winemaking: One year of ageing in large oak barrels and stainless steel tanks.
Terroir: Sandy and gravelly soils.
Tasting notes: A wine of remarkable aromatic complexity, with a wonderful array of aromatic herbs intertwining with juicy fresh blackberries and strawberries, lifted by a hint of blood orange. The palate is beautifully textured, mineral and refined, bursting with dark berries, wrapped in delicate notes of dried flowers and lingering hints of dark chocolate bitterness. A precise and elegant wine, yet full of character!
🍷 Serving temperature: 15-17°C. Decant for one hour before serving to fully appreciate the aromatic complexity of this cuvée.
Originally from Narbonne, Dorian Déjean has been passionate about nature since his childhood in the Corbières and has followed a rather unusual path! After spending some time in the world of bullfighting, he turned his attention to wine, graduating in oenology from Montpellier SupAgro in 2016.
He went on to gain experience alongside some outstanding winemakers, including Marcel Deiss in Alsace, Eric Forest in the Mâconnais and Viña Koyle in Chile. In 2020, he returned to his roots in the Roussillon, becoming assistant vineyard manager at Olivier Pithon's estate in Calce, before acquiring his first vines in 2021.
Today, he farms around 3 hectares between Calce, Baixas and the Corbières, with a deeply respectful approach to nature, inspired by organic and biodynamic farming. Passionate about botany, he favours natural ground cover, minimal soil disturbance and plant-based preparations to encourage biodiversity.
The same philosophy continues in the cellar, with indigenous yeasts, gravity-fed winemaking, no fining or filtration, and very little sulphur, occasionally added at bottling.
An exciting young estate well worth discovering!
