DOMAINE CASTERA Tauzy 2024 Jurançon Dry 75cl White

€2440 EUR

Grape varieties: Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng & Petit Courbu

Terroir: "Tauzy" plot (Tauzin oak, an endemic tree of the Pyrenees) and name of this fresh plot which allows Franck to push the ripening process. Soil of ferric gravel (silty-clay with many degraded ferric pebbles and red clays). East exposure. Slope from 5 to 27%....

Vinification / Aging in wooden containers of different volumes (barrels, 400l and demi-muids, and sandstone egg). Aging on total lees for 11 months, then 2 months in stainless steel tanks.

Tasting: A beautiful gastronomic dry Jurançon that combines power and finesse, lovely candied fruit aromatics topped with a long, taut finish. This cuvée will be ideal with grilled sardines, seared scallops, poultry in cream sauce, or, of course, the quintessential pairing: Pyrenean sheep's cheese!

🍷 Serving temperature 12°, long aging possible

Franck Lihour, drawing on his experiences abroad, settled in 2014 on the 5-generation family estate that has existed since 1885! The vineyard is made up of 4 localities divided into 14 micro-plots that are cultivated differently according to altitude, ripeness, grape varieties... The vines are worked with respect for common sense farming, based on observation and feeling. The fight against vine diseases is done with natural products (copper, sulfur, essential oils,...) and the soils are nourished with manure, rocks, and various plants (cereals, legumes, crucifers). The harvest is done by hand and by successive sorts, the vinifications are kept simple and the aging gentle (stainless steel, large containers, sandstone eggs). In short, his cuvées are authentic, fruity and deep at the same time, and reveal all the minerality of the beautiful Jurançon terroirs.
