Before being considered the enfant terrible of Spanish wines, Telmo
Rodriguez began his journey in the wine world at the family estate, Bodega Remilluri.
Of Basque origin, but considering himself very close to French culture, Telmo
Rodriguez studied winemaking at the Institute of Oenology in Bordeaux, before completing
internships at Château Petit-Village in Pomerol, Domaine Jean Louis Chave, and
Domaine de Trévallon. Without a penny to his name, Telmo returned to Spain to conquer
abandoned terroirs, witnesses of ancestral viticulture, miraculously preserved despite years
of neglect. He bought grapes to produce his first wines. His first great success
was in Malaga: "Molino Real." Today, Compañia de Vinos Telmo
Rodriguez selects vines throughout Spain, which it vinifies and sells under its
own name.
