NATHALIE OUDIN Chablis 1er Cru Vaucoupins 2023 75cl White

€4740 EUR

Grape Variety: Chardonnay, 70-year-old vines.

Terroir: The vineyards are located around the village of Chichée, south of Chablis, along the banks of the River Serein. The vines grow on hillsides and hilltops surrounding the village, at an altitude of approximately 150 metres. Most enjoy a south or south-west-facing exposure.

Winemaking/Ageing: The winemaking approach is as low-intervention as possible. Nathalie and Isabelle favour textured, rich musts with plenty of substance. Fermentation occurs naturally thanks to the indigenous yeasts and lactic acid bacteria present on the grapes. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks on its lees for as long as possible, until bottling before the following harvest. The Chablis "Les Serres" cuvée remains in tank for 24 months. Free sulphur dioxide at bottling: 35 mg/L.

Tasting Notes: A more expressive nose reveals inviting aromas of ripe fruit. On the palate, this ripeness translates into a soft, generous and flavoursome texture. A powerful yet fresh wine, with excellent structure and impressive ageing potential, naturally developing more toasted notes over time.

The estate was founded in 1985 by Nathalie and Isabelle's parents. Nathalie took over the running of the estate in 2007, following her studies in oenology and several professional experiences in France and abroad. Her sister Isabelle joined her in 2012.

Today, the two sisters cultivate 10 hectares of Chardonnay, with a strong commitment to quality-driven viticulture and respect for nature.
