€2200 EUR

"If you want to age well, drink Manzanilla La E!" goes a popular saying in SanlĂşcar de Barrameda, where mentioning "La E" is simply another way of talking about Manzanilla!

Traditionally sold in bulk, this wine undergoes 60 months of ageing in the Barrio Bajo, the lower district of Sanlúcar. Its soleras are housed in the San José bodega, the historic birthplace of Argüeso, dating back over 200 years. Its criadera system is particularly remarkable for its large 70-arroba casks (approximately 1,150 litres), housed in the San Manuel bodega, next to the 16th-century Santo Domingo convent.

Residual sugar: Less than 1 g/L

🍷 Serving temperature: 12°C

Bodegas ArgĂĽeso, SanlĂşcar de Barrameda, Andalusia
Founded in 1822 by LeĂłn de ArgĂĽeso, this historic winery in SanlĂşcar de Barrameda is a true institution in the world of Sherry and Manzanilla!

Originally from Burgos, León began modestly with a grocery shop before venturing into the wine trade, acquiring old soleras and the San José bodega, whose origins date back more than 250 years.

Over the generations, the winery expanded to encompass 13,500 m² of cellars, some of which are housed in a former 16th-century Dominican convent. An exceptional heritage, where wines age slowly through the traditional criaderas and solera system.

In 2016, Francisco Yuste acquired the winery, determined to restore its Manzanillas to their former glory. And what a success! In 2017, the San LeĂłn Manzanilla was crowned the world's best Manzanilla at the International Wine Challenge in London.

Today, ArgĂĽeso continues to preserve this remarkable Andalusian winemaking tradition, producing Manzanillas, Amontillados and Olorosos of extraordinary character and complexity.

A winery steeped in history, where some of its centuries-old soleras are true treasures!
