Grape varieties: 60% Petit Manseng, 30% Gros Manseng & 10% Petit Courbu (with just a drop of Camaralet…)
Tasting notes: Very fruity and full-bodied, with a lively, mouth-watering finish, this dry Jurançon is a blend of the Tauzy, Caubeigt and Memoria parcels. The 2023 vintage was marked by heavy losses, with Franck losing 80% of his grapes – making this the only wine produced by the estate that year (apart from the Autres Pentes cuvée from purchased fruit). Despite the challenges, the wine shines with brightness and depth. Perfect as an apéritif with charcuterie and Bayonne ham, it also pairs beautifully with roast poultry, mushroom risotto or matured sheep’s tomme cheeses.
🍷 Serving temperature: 10–12°C
Drawing on his experience abroad, Franck Lihour took over the five-generation family estate, Domaine Castéra, in 2014. The vines are tended with farmer’s wisdom, guided by observation and intuition. Vineyard care relies on natural treatments (copper, sulphur, essential oils…) while the soils are nourished with manure, crushed rock and a wide diversity of plants (cereals, legumes, crucifers). Harvesting is done by hand with successive selections; winemaking is deliberately simple and ageing gentle, in stainless steel or large vessels. The result is authentic wines that are at once fruity and profound, expressing all the minerality of Jurançon’s finest terroirs.
