Thomas introduced us to the magnificent whiskies from Maison Adelphi, a resolutely independent Scottish bottler. Some rare gems, "very" limited editions...cask strength (uncut!), unfiltered and uncaramelized, amazing fusion whiskies...(blends from Scotland + India or Scotland + Japan!!) and an astonishing brand new "Ardnamurchan" distillery created in 2013/2014 (middle bottle) located on the west coast just above the Isle of Mull, only 2 years old... (so not yet whisky but just a "spirit" aged in first fill Oloroso PX sherry casks) splendid with fire, finesse, character, length and great balance despite its impetuous youth (brief, concise, spiritual haiku comment!...: Wow...!!)
Thanks to the "happy few" present that evening who I think will keep a "cask strength" memory of it, a great evening, wasn't it?
1- Adelphi’s old mature private stock 40% Blended
2- Adelphi’s Glenborrodale Batch4 46% Blended Malt 7 years
1 of 1484 bottles. A tea-time tray of fresh pastries with assorted flavours of tangy oranges, lemon curd, clotted cream, salted caramel and rich coffee to choose from.
3- Ardnamurchan spirit 53.6%Â AD 2017 No2 Pure Malt / 1st fill ex-sherry (Oloroso PX)
1 of 2447 bottles. Honey-roasted nuts, spiced raisin pudding, baked apples, custard, liquorice candy, sea salt and burnt driftwood, light smoke.
4- The Kincardine by Adelphi 52.9% Malt Whisky 7 years
A blend of two Scottish casks (Glen Elgin and Macallan) and a cask from the Amrut Distillery in India. 1 of 820 bottles. Aromas of white chocolate and ice cream, followed by notes of citrus and spices. Finish with pastry aromas, very smooth and long on the palate.
5- The Glover by Adelphi 49.2% Malt Whisky 18 years
A blend of two Scottish distilleries (Glen Garioch and Longmorn) and a Japanese distillery (Hanyu). 1 of 1046 bottles.
