Antonio Lopes Ribeiro and his wife, Sara Dionisio, were pioneers in the Dão region in working their vineyards organically and biodynamically (organic certification in 1997!).
Mouraz is located in the heart of the Dão region; it is António's birthplace, where his family has been cultivating vines holistically and ecologically for many generations. The vineyard is spread over different terroirs (granite and clay) and altitudes ranging from 140 to 400 meters. Many indigenous grape varieties coexist, including Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro, Jaen, Baga, and Água-Santa for red wines, and Malvasia-Fina, Bical, Cerceal, Encruzado, and Alvarinho for whites.
Subsequently, the "Antonio Lopez Ribeiro" project was created to produce wines from other great vineyards: Vinho Verde, Alentejo, and Douro, with local winemakers who also work with respect for ecology.
