Fourth generation of the Seale family, distillery owners in Barbados since 1883. In 1992, Richard Seale joined the family business and purchased Doorly's and Old Brigand. In 1996, he founded the Foursquare distillery on the site of the old sugar refinery and distillery of the same name.
Foursquare produces molasses rums. Fermentation is carried out with South African yeasts. Distillation is done with a triple column Coffey still and a pot still. The blending of these two distillations and their aging are key to the final result of the aged rums, a method unique to Barbados.
Foursquare rums are aged in bourbon casks and often with double maturation; Port, Sherry, Madeira casks… The “exceptional casks” series has been very successful with Détente, Redoutable, Dominus, Empery…But it is also Richard Seale’s passion for authentic rums that led him to collaborate with Luca Gargano from Velier; Plenipotenziario, Triptych, Destino…
