VITICOLA MENTRIDANA

VITICOLA MENTRIDANA

Daniel Gómez Jiménez-Landi worked in the family business for several years before creating his own winery, located in a small village in La Sierra de Gredos (south-west of Madrid) in the Méntrida appellation (Spain). Deeply rooted in tradition, since 2004 he has been producing true terroir wines by rehabilitating abandoned plots.

A lover of old terroirs and old vines, he is also involved in another wine project that is close to his heart: Comando G. The terroir consists of granitic soils, with altitudes close to 800m, and a flagship grape variety, Grenache. The old vines withstand long winters and hot summers. The estate's 27 hectares are farmed organically, and some plots have been biodynamic since 2007.

Viticulture is practiced with respect for nature and its typicality, in an ecological way (manual soil work and little intervention) and 1/3 of the vineyard is biodynamic. Here, no chemical products are used and sulfur doses are kept to a minimum. Daniel Gomez Jiménez-Landi uses 500L barrels for aging, in order to mark the wines as little as possible and let the fruit and minerality of the terroir express themselves.
