ANXO Luis A Torna dos Pasas Escolma 2017 Ribeiro Spain 75cl Red
Grapes: Brancellao, Ferrol, Caiño Longo, and Caiño Redondo
🍷 Serving temperature 16-17°
Since 1988, almost as a solitary pioneer, Luis Anxo has dedicated himself to recovering traditional Ribeiro grape varieties, particularly those of the Arnoia valley, his place of origin and heart. He owns 3.7 hectares spread across more than 80 plots. These are small, almost inhospitable hillside plots, where ancient stone walls can be found. He also owns 1.3 hectares in the Ribadavia valley, where he produces the estate's unique single-vineyard wine "A Teixa". The wines from this estate have astonishing aging potential, both white and red.
His working philosophy is simple; endemic grape varieties, manual viticulture practices as close to the environment as possible, and small yields. For Luis Anxo, Arnoia wines are those that express the most minerality in his appellation and can therefore be a little closed in their youth. Far from exuberance and flattery, his wines reveal themselves on the palate through textures and sensations.
These wines are among our Cellar's favorites! They are incredibly fine and delicate! They have a style somewhat reminiscent of Jura wines, very far from preconceived ideas about Spanish wines!
