CHANDON DE B Corton Les Bressandes Grand Cru 2021 75cl Red
Grape variety : Pinot Noir, no added sulfites
Terroir : This cuvée comes from 4 mid-slope plots distributed homogeneously throughout the appellation. The soils are deep and composed of equal parts limestone and clay, which gives the wine a beautiful balance and great length on the palate. It is a terroir very representative of the CORTON appellation.
Tasting Notes: The terroir expresses itself forcefully here, but the wine remains elegant yet powerful. A beautiful sensation of opulence and roundness, with a very persistent finish framed by a fine but present tannic structure. It has earthy, undergrowth notes from its early youth. With age, it develops wilder flavors.
Domaine Chandon de Briailles, located in the Côte de Beaune, has belonged to the same Chandon family since 1834! Today, Claude and François, heirs of their grandmother Countess Chandon, work meticulously to honor their magnificent vineyard heritage.
The estate spans 13.7 hectares, equally divided among the three communes of Savigny-Lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses, and Aloxe-Corton. Thirty small plots are cultivated.
Claude and François received strong guidance from their mother at the estate. Highly complementary, each gained solid experience before taking over the estate in the 1990s for Claude, and 10 years later for François. Claude notably created a laboratory to ensure precise monitoring of the wines; François, with his previous life as a wine merchant, was highly sensitive to tasting wines produced using biodynamic cultural practices. It was therefore natural for him to initiate the conversion of his vineyard to biodynamics.
Organic farming has played an important role in the estate since the 1980s. Nadine de Nicolay realized very early on the misguided nature of the entire existing array of chemical vine treatments. From then on, the estate resumed working the soil as a matter of course. Five horses have been used for plowing since 2014.
The estate has been certified by the Demeter label since 2018. Due to the deep root penetration it encourages and its completely natural aspect, biodynamics gives wines an inimitable texture on the palate and aromatic complexity. The wines are thereby magnified and possess incomparable elegance and charm. This meticulous work makes it possible to precisely reveal the aromatic identity of each "climat".
In the cellar, all wines are aged in old barrels. The goal is not to heavily intervene in the winemaking and aging process, but simply to guide nature. Each wine reflects the particularity of its "climat" and can be enjoyed at different stages of its life, for the wisest and most patient...
